AP Calculus AB Scoring Guide
How AP Scores are Calculated
The AP Calculus AB exam has two sections:
- Section I: Multiple-Choice - 45 questions (1 hour 45 minutes)
- Section II: Free-Response - 6 questions (1 hour 30 minutes)
The multiple-choice section is scored with a penalty for incorrect answers:
MC Score = (Correct Answers × 1.2) - (Incorrect Answers × 0.25)
The free-response section is scored based on a 9-point scale for each question.
The composite score is converted to a 5-point scale using the College Board's conversion chart.
