AP Biology Scoring Guide
How AP Biology Scores are Calculated
The AP Biology exam has two sections:
- Section I: Multiple-Choice - 60 questions (1 hour 30 minutes)
- Section II: Free-Response - 6 questions (1 hour 30 minutes)
The multiple-choice section is scored without penalty for incorrect answers:
MC Score = Number of Correct Answers
The free-response section is scored based on a 10-point scale for each question.
The composite score is calculated as:
Composite = MC Score + (FR Score × 1.5)
The composite score is then converted to a 5-point AP score.
